Humans strive to belong to a community and share love. Our true potential can be met through one
powerful action: Contribution. Some of the many ways we can contribute are through:
-
- Our service
- Our time
- Our knowledge
- Our talents
- Our prayer and petitioning on someone’s behalf
- Our encouraging and seconding energy
- Physical things such as money and material donations
“Every man shall give as he is able, according to the blessing of the LORD your God which He
has given you.” –Deuteronomy 16:17 (NASB)
Contribution is sharing forth what God has given us. All gifts are from Him, including our talents, all that we own, and our finances. Let us contribute to this beautiful world with our gifts, ideas, and energy. Let us create something great. Let us bring our life-long dreams into existence. Let us always be engaged in projects we are excited about and make our hearts sing. Let us also be involved in a cause that helps the greater good.
“The generous man will be prosperous, and he who waters will himself be watered.” –Proverbs
11:25 (NASB)
- Let us ask ourselves:
- What can I contribute?
- What are my talents?
- What can I spend hours on and it seems like seconds? What am l excited about?
- What makes my heart leap with joy?
- What can I contribute right now?
- Take the last idea and do it right now!
Here are some ideas:
- Share positive encouraging words
- Spread your positivity and kindness through smiles and hugs
- Cheer your friends on in the projects they are excited about
- Share your abundance with others: give your extra clothes and household items that are just sitting in your house to a good cause
- Help a friend. Ask what they require help with: organizing, babysitting, or running errands
- Call someone to wish them a happy new day
- Invite someone out for lunch or buy some groceries for someone you know who can appreciate
this gift - Do small daily acts of kindness
- Mentor a younger person in your trade or profession
- Volunteer
- Help children and the elderly
- Sponsor a child in your community or through a charity such as World Vision or Compassion International: pick two charities you are excited about and give them time and money
We are the creators, inviters, and attractors of all things in our life. Share the bounty God has already bestowed on us. Every good that goes out of us comes right back, as does everything else. Let us choose to radiate what is good, kind, blessed, loving, encouraging, and uplifting.
“Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound to you so that always having all sufficiency in everything, you may have an abundance for every good deed.” –2 Corinthians 9:6-8 (NIV)
God loves a cheerful giver. God loves when we show appreciation for humanity by sharing with and taking care of our brothers and sisters in Christ. Let us give cheerfully from our hearts and know that what we sow comes back to us. The biggest contribution we can give to ourselves and others is love.
“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.” –John 13:34 (NIV)
